Eve, How Could You?

This piece investigates the concept of original sin as it relates emotionally to disability and pain. It examines as metaphor the idea that the original sin — Eve biting the apple — stays inherently within everyone. Therefore, even if you have done nothing wrong, pain is deserved as punishment for original sin. This is a tempting answer to the impossible question: “what did I do to deserve this?”

Nothing. The apple you did not bite still rots in your stomach.
